THE COURSE AIMS AT ANALYSING THE MEANING AND METHOD OF LEGAL COMPARISON, IN ORDER TO TRACE A MAP OF THE PLANET "LEGAL GEOGRAPHY" AND TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICATIVE LEGAL SYSTEMS ON A GLOBAL SCALE. THE MAIN EDUCATIONAL GOALS CONCERN: A) THE ABILITY TO INTEGRATE KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO ONE'S OWN LEGAL SYSTEM WITH THAT RELATING TO OTHER LEGAL SYSTEMS OR SYSTEMS THAT USE DIFFERENT MECHANISMS OF SOCIAL CONTROL; B) THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE THE PLURALISM OF LEGAL SOURCES AND ITS COMPLEXITY; C)THE ABILITY TO FORMULATE CRITICAL JUDGMENTS AND TO ELABORATE REFLECTIONS IN AUTONOMY; D) THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE METHODOLOGIES OF LEGAL COMPARISON, IN ORDER TO ACQUIRE MULTIDISCIPLINARY SKILLS FOR A FRUITFUL STUDY OF THE DIFFERENT LEGAL TRADITIONS. THE FINAL PURPOSE IS TO TRAIN FUTURE GRADUATES WITH LEGAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES THAT CAN BE USED AT A TRANSNATIONAL LEVEL, AND WITH A SENSITIVITY THAT IS RESPECTFUL OF DIFFERENT LEGAL CULTURES. |

INTRODUCTORY CONCEPTS: THE NOTION OF COMPARATIVE LAW; THE HISTORICAL EVOLUTION OF LEGAL COMPARISON; PURPOSE OF THE LEGAL COMPARISON; COMPARISON AND LANGUAGE; THE METHOD OF LEGAL COMPARISON. A LEGAL GEOGRAPHY OF THE PLANET: SYSTEMS, FAMILIES, MODELS; DIVERSITY AND CIRCULATION OF MODELS; THE PROPOSED CLASSIFICATIONS. |

THE LESSONS WILL BE HELD IN DIFFERENT WAYS: A) LECTURES, IN WHICH THE FUNDAMENTAL THEMES OF THE COMPARISON ARE INTRODUCED BY THE TEACHER'S EXPLANATION; B) "FLIPPED-CLASSROOM": STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO INDIVIDUALLY READ SOME MATERIALS, WHICH WILL SUBSEQUENTLY BE DISCUSSED IN THE CLASSROOM; C) GROUP WORK AND SHARING OF RESULTS IN THE CLASSROOM ON TOPICS AND MATERIALS ASSIGNED BY THE TEACHER; D) DIDACTIC SEMINARS WITH ITALIAN OR FOREIGN TEACHERS; E) INDIVIDUAL TUTORING. |

ORAL EXAMINATION. THE ORAL EXAMINATION AIMS AT ASSESSING THE STUDENT'S PREPARATION, BOTH AS REGARDS THE SPECIFIC CONTENTS OF THE STUDY PROGRAM, AND IN THE PLAN OF ANALYSIS METHODS. DURING THE TEST THE ABILITY TO TREAT THE ACQUIRED DATA CRITICALLY AND WITH AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE SCIENTIFIC TOPICS IN WIDER RESEARCH CONTEXTS RELATED TO THE SPECIFIC AREA OF COMPARATIVE LAW WILL BE VERIFIED. |
