THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO FOSTER THE UNDERSTANDING AND APPLICATION OF CONCEPTUAL AND COGNITIVE TOOLS OF THE DISCIPLINE IN RELATION TO THE SOCIOLOGICAL READING OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL PHENOMENA AND THE RESOLUTION OF SPECIFIC PROBLEMS IN THE WORKPLACE. THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO FOSTER IN STUDENTS THE ABILITY TO CRITICALLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL TOOLS AND CONCEPTS THEY HAVE LEARNED, WITH REFERENCE TO METHODOLOGICAL AND ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY ABILITY TO JUDGE IN THE WORKPLACE SO THAT THEY MIGHT KNOW HOW TO APPLY WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED IN A COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT WAY. |

THE EDUCATIONAL AIM OF THE COURSE OF SOCIOLOGY IS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF CHANGE IN EUROPEAN SOCIETY FROM SIXTIES UNTIL TODAY. THE COURSE CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS: AN INSTITUTIONAL AND A MONOGRAPHIC. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE FIRST PART IS TO CONVEY KNOWLEDGES ACCUMULATED IN SPECIFIC COMPARATIVE AREAS OF EUROPEAN EUROPEAN SOCIETIES WITHIN A FRAMEWORK OF THEORETHICAL AND EMPIRICAL AT THE SAME TIME; THE SECOND, IS ON THE EUROPE AS SPECIFICA ISSUE, PARTICURALLY ITS CONSTITUTION, ITS CURRENT CRISIS AND POSSIBLE WAYS OF SOLUTIONS. |

THE COURSE WILL USE TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS, ORAL EXPOSITION OF THE TOPICS, AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES , WITH THE HELP OF ELECTRONIC TOOLS. IT WILL, HOWEVER, ALSO PROMOTE COMMUNICATION IN THE CLASSROOM BY STRONGLY SUPPORTING DISCUSSION AND THE INTERVENTION OF THE STUDENTS, SO AS TO FACILITATE THEIR ACTIVE AND ENGAGING SKILLS. FINALLY, THE COURSE AIMS TO FACILITATE STUDENTS' LEARNING ABILITY BY ACTIVATING THE POSSIBLE CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION TO ENHANCE THEIR INVOLVEMENT AND LAND INCREASE THEIR LEVEL OF ATTENTION. |
