The Master Degree in Data Science and Innovation Management (a two-year program divided into 4 semesters for 120 credits) offers a highly interdisciplinary training approach. The degree program aims to train future data scientists (also preparing them with open data management and professional data intelligence responsibilities) and tomorrow’s cyber-risk managers.

Data scientists will be able to process predictions on large data flows using state-of-the-art software. The skills they will acquire from this Masters Program will allow them to create their own startup and/or to work in various contexts such as large and medium-sized companies (e.g, guiding them through the digital transformation process and the transition to industry 4.0), public administration, innovative startups, consulting firms, climatological research centers, the healthcare field, the hospitality industry and many more.

Cyber-risk managers will also play a vital professional role for companies, organizations, public bodies, and institutions. These cyber-risk professionals will be capable of both managing the risks of and due to cyber-threats (e.g., coming from the Internet, Internet of Things, etc.) and will have the core competencies of using networks, especially the Web, as an opportunity to define and enhance tools for supporting the Intelligence Cycle (e.g., fight against organized crime and international terrorism).

The Master Degree Program is divided into two curricula: Massive Data Management, taught entirely in English, and Cyber Risk Management for Advanced Defence Strategies, taught partly in Italian and partly in English.

Massive Data Management curriculum includes the study of models, methods, and tools for data analysis, both with computer and statistical approaches.

Cyber Risk Management for Advanced Defence Strategies curriculum takes the knowledge of computer science (data analysis and cognitive approaches) and statistical and managerial subjects further and adds legal science. The purpose of this curriculum is to allow students to develop the solid skills required to manage threats, risks and opportunities arising from networks.

Moreover, the study program is highly practical, being not only based on theoretical and academic rigor but also on practical workshops, projects, and internships.

To introduce their students into the world of work, the Department of Management and Innovation Systems plans for them orientation meetings with local and national entrepreneurs and managers every year
