Presentation of the two-year Master’s degree in Art History and Criticism, LM 89
The Master's degree course in Art History and Criticism is run by the Department of Cultural Heritage Sciences based at the Fisciano University Campus and has a duration of two years. Part-time enrolment is also possible, according to the rules laid down by the University.
To obtain the degree the student must acquire 120 CFUs.
Specific curricular requirements and adequate personal preparation, verified by assessing the student's previous academic career, are required for enrolment on the Master's degree course in Art History and Criticism. The procedures for verifying the admission requirements and the criteria for assessing the preparation of the candidates are published on the course website.
This degree course aims at providing graduates with theoretical tools and specific practical skills necessary to achieve a high-level of professionalism in the fields of research, teaching, valorisation, and management of artistic and historic heritage.
The course enables the acquisition of refined art history competence, enabling master's degree graduates to respond not only to the increasingly flexible requirements of the public sector (government archaeological agencies, museums, local administrations and bodies, schools and institutes of higher education), but also to the evolving demands of the private sector, which in Campania seems is largely oriented towards investing in the promotion of its artistic and historic heritage.
The course also allows access to Specialisation Schools and PhDs in the specific sectors, offered by the University of Salerno, which are essential to access managerial positions at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
