Final Exam and Thesis
The PhD thesis must:
- Be written in Italian or English, or another language with approval.
- Include a summary in Italian or English.
- Have a report on activities and publications.
Two external high-qualified evaluators assess the thesis, providing a written review. They recommend admission for public discussion or a six-month revision if necessary. The revised thesis is then admitted for public discussion regardless.
The public defense involves a committee of three members, with at least two external. The thesis is approved or rejected by a written judgment. The committee can unanimously award honors for outstanding scientific results.
Within 30 days, the university deposits the thesis in a ministerial database and national libraries. Parts may be restricted for industrial secrecy or a six-month to one-year embargo for intellectual property protection.
