Services for Doctoral Students

All doctoral students have access to the services provided by Azienda per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario della Regione Campania (A.Di.S.U.R.C.). Doctoral students interested in benefitting from these services (grants, accommodation services, meals allowances, etc.) are invited to consult the website: https://www.adisurcampania.it, where specific announcements regarding competitions and the relevant admission procedures will be posted.

Doctoral students are entitled to a pass for access to the reserved parking areas. To obtain the pass, contact the Bursar’s Office (Ufficio Economato) at the Rectorate.

Budget for Research Activities

Each doctoral student, with or without a scholarship, is allocated a budget for research activities both in Italy and abroad (e.g., travel, purchase of bibliographic material, etc.). This fund amounts to 10% of the gross value of the grant and should not be confused with the budget for stays abroad (for more information, see the Internationalization page).

To access research activities budget, doctoral students should contact the coordinator by email, specifying the type of good or service to be purchased or, in the case of travel, the destination and duration. For travel missions, once approved, the doctoral student must complete the mission request through the UWeb-missions service at least 5 days before the trip. Unless specifically authorized, the doctoral student must use public transportation during the mission. Upon return from the mission, the doctoral student should request reimbursement of the expenses incurred through the UWeb-missions service, attaching the original supporting documents (receipts, invoices, tickets).

For any administrative questions or clarifications, please contact the DSG Accounting and Treasury Office (dott. Gianni Di Nenna).

Research stays in Italy

Research stays in Italy at universities and public or private research institutes (with high cultural and scientific standing and appropriate scientific structures and facilities), as well as in companies engaged in qualified research and development activities, may last up to twelve months. These stays will be arranged in collaboration with the supervisor, based on the specific research topic of each doctoral student, and with the participation of the Coordinator, who will ask the PhD Board, at the first available meeting, to modify the individual study plan of the doctoral candidate accordingly. To facilitate this process, the doctoral student must provide all the necessary information, including host institution, reference tutor, planned activities aligned with the doctoral program, and duration of the stay.

Duration of the Course, Incompatibilities, Extensions, and Suspensions

The doctoral program lasts three years and requires exclusive, full-time commitment. Any paid activities are subject to authorization by the PhD Board, in accordance with the University of Salerno Regulation on PhD.

The Regulations also govern issues such as incompatibilities, extensions, suspensions, and more broadly, the rights and obligations of doctoral students.
