The GrEpiSS Summer School - organized in collaboration between the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia and the Universities of Salerno, Roma Tre, and Venice - aims to provide specialized training in the field of Greek epigraphy, in particular Magna Graecia epigraphy, through an approach to the discipline that includes theoretical consolidation and practical exercises, with lectures on introductory topics of the discipline, also in its digital declinations, and exercises on original documents. Guided tours of archaeological parks and museums are also planned to place the epigraphic documents in a correct historical and archaeological context. An integral part of the project will be the laboratory activities for learning the techniques of graphic and photographic documentation, the textual analysis of the inscriptions, the editorial practices, and the strategies for the musealization of epigraphic material.

Requirements: good knowledge of ancient Greek and passing at least one exam in Greek Epigraphy.

The following can participate: students enrolled in a master's degree in the academic year 2023/2024;- PhDs and PhD students in Historical, Archaeological, and Philological Disciplines;- specialized and postgraduate students in Archaeological Heritage.

Participants will be admitted in a number of fifteen (15). At least five (5) places are reserved for Master's degree students.

Participation in GrEpiSS is subject to the payment of a registration fee of 500 euros, which includes room and board in affiliated facilities from 9 to 15 June.
