Admission Requirements
To enroll in the Master’s program in Physics, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
- Hold an Italian Bachelor’s degree classified under Class L-30 (Physical Sciences and Technologies), or an equivalent qualification as defined by previous legislation (D.M. 509/99).
- If the degree is from a different class or obtained abroad, the applicant must have earned at least 80 ECTS credits (CFU) distributed as follows:
- 60 CFU in one or more of the Physics disciplinary sectors (FIS/01 to FIS/08), including:
- At least 40 CFU in FIS/01 (Experimental and General Physics)
- At least 9 CFU in FIS/02 (Theoretical Physics)
- 20 CFU in one or more of the Mathematics or Computer Science sectors (MAT/01 to MAT/08, INF/01), including:
- At least 12 CFU in MAT/05 (Calculus)
If an applicant does not meet the required distribution of credits (CFU/SSD), the Teaching Council will indicate the necessary courses to fulfill these requirements. Please note that enrollment is not permitted until all curricular deficiencies are resolved.
Additional Admission Criteria
Applicants must also demonstrate:
- Adequate personal preparation, including a thorough understanding of the scientific method
- A solid background in classical physics
- Knowledge of quantum mechanics and its applications in condensed matter and nuclear physics
- Familiarity with mathematical methods essential for modern physics
- Competence in the use of computer tools and electronic laboratory instrumentation
Admission Evaluation
The Teaching Council will assess each applicant’s academic record and conduct an oral interview on specific topics to evaluate the level of preparation. However, graduates holding an L-30 degree who obtained a final grade of at least 85/110 are exempt from the interview.
