Lingue e Letterature Moderne Enrollment
Entry requirements AY 2023-24
To enter the Master’s degree course, applicants are required a three-year Bachelor’s degree or any other diploma issued by a higher education institution recognised in the awarding country and a personal level of competence according to the specific curricular requirements.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree L-11 ex DM 270 from the University of Salerno (in line of continuity) and a final mark of 100 (corresponding to a UK 2.1 degree) or higher have direct access to the Master’s degree course without presenting any applications.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree L-11 ex DM 270 from the University of Salerno (in line of continuity) and a final mark lower than 100 (corresponding to a UK 2.1 degree) must apply for the evaluation of their personal level of competence (point B).
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in “Lingue e modelli culturali dell’Occidente” (matriculation number starting with 449) from the University of Salerno, regardless of the final mark, and applicants with a Bachelor’s degree other than L-11, must apply for the evaluation of curricular requirements and personal level of competence (points A and B), specifying the choice of the Master’s degree curriculum.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree and a final mark of 100 (corresponding to a UK 2.1 degree) or higher from another University must apply for the evaluation of curricular requirements only, specifying the Master’s degree curriculum and the foreign languages chosen.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree and a final mark lower than 100 (corresponding to a UK 2.1 degree) from another University must apply for the evaluation of curricular requirements and personal level of competence (points A and B), specifying the Master’s degree course and the foreign languages chosen.
To apply for the evaluation of curricular requirements and personal level of competence please complete the following form, specifying the curriculum of the Master’s degree course and the foreign languages chosen. Applicants must e-mail the form to the Career Office at carrierestudenti.dipsum@unisa.it . The administrative fees invoice will be made visible in the ‘payment section’ of the reserved area.
Evaluation dates:
- 3rd October 2023, for applications and administrative fees received by 27th September 2023 at 2 pm.
- 27th November 2023; for applications and administrative fees received by 21st November 2023 at 2 pm.
- 27th February 2024; for applications and administrative fees received by 26th February at 2 pm.
Applicants shall be advised of evaluation outcome via email.
In order to accept admission, students have to send the enrolment form for the Master’s degree course (two-year course) via email to carrierestudenti.dipsum@unisa.it from 17th July 2023 to 28th February 2024.
Enrolment is possible only if entry requirements for the Degree course are met.
Students with entry requirements must register online for the Master’s degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures going to https://esse3web.unisa.it/Home.do. Students with access credentials (username and password) must login and register going to “Evaluation test”.
The career office will check the application and provide access to the online management system ESSE3 in order to enable online students’ enrolment procedures (ESSE3: user area ------> enrolment). Students with the access codes must register, first, on the University online management system, following the steps available from https://web.unisa.it/didattica/immatricolazioni/informazioni .
According to the Law no. 76, dated 16th July 2020, amended on 11th September 2020, and no. 120/28th February 2021, identification and access to ESSE3 is only possible by using Digital Identity Public System SPID .
Only students with a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures from the University of Salerno with at least 150 ECTS by 13th September 2023, will be able to apply for the Master’s degree courses in term 1 before having completed the Bachelor’s degree; students must graduate within the November 2023 session and enrol by December 2023, to be able to take exams in term 1.
Students have to send their application via e-mail to the DIPSUM didactic office at didattica.dipsum@unisa.it using the form “Permission of attendance for Term 1 courses (two-year Master’s Degree course)”.
Foreign Students with EU and non-EU Nationalities
To enrol in the Master’s degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures (LM37), foreign students (EU and non-EU citizens) must have a degree issued by a higher education institution recognised in the awarding country with a transcript of the exams as well as the module program for each exam. The Supplement Diploma is considered valid, where applicable.
The Master’s degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures (LM37) has five positions for non-EU citizens with residence abroad. There are no restrictions for Eu citizens regardless of their place of residence.
Non- EU students who are interested in the Master’s degree course have to sign a pre-enrolment registration from UNIVERSIALY following instructions available on the portal.
Access to the Master’s degree requires: A) Curricular requirements as listed in point A; B) a personal level of competence assessed via an interview to verify the previous academic experience of candidates.
A proficiency B2 level (in compliance to the Common European Framework of References) in Italian is mandatory.
Non-EU students’ language proficiency will be tested at the University Language Centre.
EU students will be able to prove their level of language proficiency either by presenting an International Language Certificate of Proficiency or by taking a test during week 1 in September, prior to a request to the Career Office: carrierestudenti.dipsum@unisa.it
The University Language Centre offers Italian language courses for students without adequate level of proficiency (https://www.cla.unisa.it/corsi/italianol2 ).
The Master’s degree course does not have pre-registration courses to achieve curricular requirements. However, there is the possibility to subscribe to single courses in order to gain ECTS that are necessary for enrolment. (https://web.unisa.it/didattica/segreteria/servizi?servizio=6 )

Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD): welcoming and support
Students with disabilities or SLD can benefit from the many services offered by the Disabilities and Special Learning Needs Office, (Law 17/99 and 170/2010), part of the Students’ Right to Study Office coordinated by the Rector’s delegate for disabilities. The office guarantees individual face-to face or online interviews for students’needs analysis; a team of experts informs and advices students on specific services available, on the possibility to receive support during entry tests and on economic advantages and easy access to the university areas. Candidates with certification of disability, according to Law no. 104 of 1992, or with a diagnosis of SLD , according to Law 170 of 2010, can receive support during the entry test and benefit from balancing measures and means as well as additional time, prior to specific request. The use of any medical equipment requires authorization from the Students’ Right to Study Office. Universities are able to conditionally admit candidates with medical certificates to take the test, even if these are not updated due to limited NHS response, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and to postpone the presentation of the due documentation. Candidates’ SLD diagnosis cannot be older than three years or it should be issued after the candidates’ eighteenth’s birthday by the local health services or regional health service professionals. Candidates with disabilities or SLD must send an e-mail to the Students’ Right to Study Office (dirstu@unisa.it) with a specific assistance request with the appropriate documentation within 15 days before the date of the test.
