Ingegneria dell'Informazione per la Medicina Digitale Enrolling in Information Engineering for Digital Medicine
Why Choose Information Engineering for Digital Medicine?
Medicine increasingly relies on the support of information engineering to design and implement innovative IT solutions for patient care, such as:
- Early diagnosis of diseases
- Clinical assessments
- Therapy planning
- Continuous monitoring of patient conditions
- Optimization of hospital processes
Who is the Information Engineer for Digital Medicine?
The Information Engineer for Digital Medicine develops expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics, data analysis, and precision medicine to:
- Analyze the vast amount of clinical and genetic data available to the medical community (e.g., medical records, scientific findings) to understand the root causes of diseases, prevent them, and optimize treatment effectiveness.
- Design IT systems to support digital medicine, including precision robotic surgery in operating rooms and remote patient care through commonly used smart devices.
Why Study Information Engineering for Digital Medicine at DIEM?
Research Excellence
DIEM ranks at the top of the latest Italian department rankings for research quality, as published by MIUR, and is recognized as an “Italian Department of Excellence.”
Internships
DIEM offers internships with sector-specific companies, providing students with advanced engineering skills.
Laboratories
Our students learn through hands-on experience, not just textbooks! Numerous tools are available for practical learning (e.g., robotic arms, biomedical sensors, etc.).
Academic Programs
Bachelor’s Degree
This program prepares digital medicine engineers with in-depth methodological and technological expertise in key fields of Digital Medicine.
Master’s Degree
The program provides advanced methodological knowledge and design skills to address complex challenges in bioinformatics systems and IT applications for healthcare. Students can choose from the following specializations:
- Artificial Intelligence for Precision Medicine
- Artificial Intelligence for Digital Health
The degree program provides students with design skills through group experiences; in the master’s program, a thesis of a design and experimental nature is required. Most of our students are encouraged to complete their master’s thesis abroad at one of our partner universities.
Study Organization
The academic year is divided into two semesters: October-December and March-May. The remaining months are dedicated to exams. The exam schedule is structured weekly to provide students ample study time.
Opportunities and Career Prospects
Internationalization
Most of our students participate in the Erasmus+ program, enabling them to study abroad (2 to 12 months) and complete their master’s thesis in a foreign partner university.
Study Support
In addition to regular classes and exercises, DIEM offers tutoring services, where students are guided by young yet experienced tutors who assist them in overcoming challenges in each subject.
Campus Life
UNISA is one of the few universities in Italy boasting a self-contained campus where all courses are offered.
The green campus features residential facilities with every comfort and offers the following services: a cafeteria, student offices, library, theater, swimming pool, football and tennis courts, post office, bank, police station, and medical center.
How to Enroll
Enrollment is subject to passing an online evaluation test (TOLC).
