and registration 3 CFU for "other activities"

The study plan of the Three-Year Degree Course in Mathematics includes 3 CFU of "Other knowledge useful for work". To obtain these CFU, the following activities are permitted, duly documented:

  • acquisition of computer skills (e.g. ECDL or ICDL);
  • acquisition of additional language skills: Foreign language other than English at least B1 level of the CEFR:
  • Participation in the educational project “Liceo Matematico” as part of the upper secondary school curriculum.

An external internship activity, carried out independently, may also be recognized, provided the following requirements are met:

  1. the activity must be documented,
  2. the activity must be consistent with the educational objectives of the course of study as described in the teaching regulations,
  3. the activity must have been carried out at public or private institutions of proven scientific and/or didactic and/or professional value, e.g., institutions formally recognized by the MUR, or by the University of Salerno or by the DipMat, through an appropriate agreement.

Requests for recognition should be submitted to the Education Secretariat (careers office: carrierestudenti.dipmat@unisa.it) accompanied by the relevant documentation.

(Please note that the activities eligible for recognition may vary slightly from academic year to academic year. It is recommended to always refer to the regulations of your own cohort.)

In addition, the Department of Mathematics organizes, for the same purpose, an additional activity:

  • participation in a series of disciplinary seminars and related studies.

For the academic year 2023/24 the activity will take place as follows:

9 seminars, 1 seminar per week, on Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in classroom F3, starting from October 11 (see the Seminar Calendar).

To obtain the 3 CFU, participation in at least 6 seminars is required. The attendance register, duly completed, must be delivered to prof. Luca Vitagliano (ongoing orientation commission). An in-depth study activity in at least 2 disciplines is also required. The in-depth studies are agreed with the teachers responsible for the seminars. At the end of each in-depth study, the candidate produces a report, written or oral at the discretion of the teacher, who will evaluate the candidate's suitability. If the candidate is found suitable for both of the two in-depth studies, then the 3 CFU will be obtained upon submission of the attendance register. For more information, contact prof. Luca Vitagliano.

N.B.: for the registration of the 3 CFU, starting from April 2023, dedicated exam sessions are included on ESSE3. Interested students who have the necessary requirements must register independently for the chosen exam session, as for any other exam. Registration will take place in person on the date set for the exam session, after verification of the requirements. If you possess one of the qualifications listed above, you are still required to forward the recognition requests to the careers office, by opening a ticket via HelpDesk, together with the relevant documentation. Such requests must be sent in good time for the necessary checks by the Teaching Council and in any case within the deadlines for registration for the exam.

Please note that, pursuant to the Course Regulations, and in accordance with the current ministerial provisions, up to a maximum of 12 CFU in total can be recognized for extra-university activities (for example by submitting certification of language skills, computer skills, etc.) for the entire university career of the student (Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree). Furthermore, certificates already used for the recognition of CFU for the three-year degree cannot be used for the recognition of further CFU, not even for the master's degree (see University Teaching Regulations, Art. 26, Paragraph 5).
