Ingegneria Informatica English Test

To obtain a degree in Computer Engineering, proficiency in English is mandatory, according to a level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).

Over the years, with changes in the academic offerings, the required level for obtaining the degree has evolved, and thus it depends on the student's cohort.

  • COHORT 2020/2021 AND EARLIER: Level A2.
  • COHORT 2021/2022 AND LATER: The study plan includes a learning activity (3 ECTS) that provides linguistic skills corresponding to CEFR Level B1 in English.

It is specified that the indicated level is the minimum required.

To pass the 3 ECTS learning activity, it is necessary to meet at least one of the following requirements:

  2. Passing the Quick Placement Test, an online assessment of English proficiency that indicates the level achieved at the end of the test. Students can book the test through the ESSE3 platform, which provides information on the opening and closing dates for reservations. These dates may differ from other DIEM exams. The test is offered three times a year (typically in January, June, and September).
  3. Passing the test at the end of the English for Everyone These mandatory-attendance courses, organized by the department in collaboration with the University Language Center, take place during the two academic semesters and require prior registration by students.
  4. ONLY STUDENTS FROM THE 2020 COHORT AND EARLIER who hold an external certification recognized by the MIUR, i.e. included in the list available here, can request recognition from the academic council.
