HOW TO APPLY
In this section you find basic info on application, divided according to the following categories of prospective students

Non EU students
Candidates who wants to apply for the admission to a Master’s Programme in Food Engineering offered by the University of Salerno can start applying for the pre-enrolment through the web portal Universitaly: (https://www.universitaly.it/first-steps) uploading the following documents:
- Copy of passport
- copy of the CV;
- copy of the certificate of English knowledge;
- copy of the transcript of records;
- Pre-screening Application form (https://corsi.unisa.it/ingegneria-alimentare/modulistica) in WORD format and PDF format (signed).
The pre-enrolment applications must be submitted, by the web portal “UNIVERSITALY”, selecting the academic year of enrolment.
The candidature evaluation will be carried out for pre-enrolment applications submitted within May 31st of each year.

It is worth noting that the degree is an Engineering Degree.
Thus, successful attendance of the degree requires knowledge and competencies of:
- engineering mathematics, physics, and chemistry
- engineering thermodynamics
- chemical and physical equilibria
Moreover, it is mandatory that candidates possess and demonstrate:
- good mastery of Transport Phenomena (Mass, Heat and Momentum)
- good mastery of Chemical Engineering Unit Operations
The enrolment is a two steps procedure: 1) a documental analysis of curriculum, transcript and prescreening form and, 2) in the case of a positive response, candidates must pass an interview unless they hold a EUR-ACE certified degree.
During the interview, the candidate will be asked to
- explain the reasons for the choice of the Master's Degree Program in Food Engineering at the University of Salerno,
- describe a project carried out during the previous studies
- answer questions aimed at verifying the needed knowledge and competences of fundamental engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry as well as engineering thermodynamics, transport phenomena and unit operation as above reported.
The result of the pre-enrolment application will be communicated by the universitaly web portal.
In case of positive result of the first step (documental analisys), candidates will be contacted by the admission commettee for arrangig the interview.

FEES
Our fees depend on the family income, however, for foreign students are below 800 Euros per year. In particular fees are below 500 Euro for students coming from any of the following countries:

Fees are paid on a year base in a maximum of three instalments according to the established rules. In case of retarded acquisition of the necessary credits by the students, graduation will be possible beyond the nominal end of the programme. In this case, the student will be asked to pay the fees due for each additional academic year necessary to gain the graduation.

The University of Salerno has a residential centre for students, which can be accessed by paying a monthly fee of € 260,00 between 15 September and 15 July. In the remaining period it is possible to be hosted in the center at a rate of € 10 per day.
The canteen daily offers to students two meals at rates between € 1,50 and € 3,00 depending on the student status and on the kind of meal.
Students from non-EU countries, who do not have health insurance, can subscribe a health insurance contract with a company, in agreement with the University, with about 100 euro per year or, with the national health care system with about 160 euro per year. The student may sign up the contract immediately after completing the formalities of entry (withdrawal university documents, issuing tax code, etc...).
Living expenses are estimated between 400 and 750 Euros per month according to the own lifestyle.
ALL FOREIGN STUDENTS have to BE AWARE that, independently of the kind of support they might receive, they will have to face immediately after their arrival EXPENSES estimated around €1,100.00.
SCHOLARSHIPS
UNISA Scholarship Program for International students - Academic year 2018-2019
The University of Salerno launches a new program of scholarship including free lodging at the University Halls of Residence and free boarding at the University canteen for 45 outstanding Master students who have obtained a Bachelor degree abroad and intend to enroll in a two year Master degree at the University of Salerno. ADISU Grants
Regional grants of about 5000 Euros are available each year for University students dedicated to those coming from poorest families independently from their origin. Call for application are available yearly in august for enrolled students at the website:

Grants for foreign students are provided yearly from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) at:

Please note that the knowledge of Italian language is not required for students applying to programmes fully taught in English, such as the Master Programme in Food Engineering at the University of Salerno.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
ALL FOREIGN STUDENTS have to BE AWARE that, independently of kind of support they will receive, they will have to face immediately after their arrival EXPENSES estimated around €1,100.00 and, even if they are granted students, they will have to be able to sustain expenses for at least other €2,000.
HOUSING AND OTHER TIPS
Housing
The University of Salerno has a residential centre for students, which can be accessed by paying a monthly fee of € 260,00 between 15 September and 15 July. In the remaining period it is possible to be hosted in the center at a rate of € 10 per day.
For temporary housing in Salerno, it is possible to book a room in the Youth Hostel "Ave Gratia Plena Minor". The University has an agreement with this hostel that entitles Erasmus students to save money. Contacts are reported below:

Arriving to destination
The nearest airport is Napoli Capodichino (www.gesac.it).
It is possible to reach the main train station in Naples (Napoli Centrale) by taxi or by bus (ANM), number 3S or Alibus. From Naples you can get to Salerno in around 45-60 minutes by train (www.ferroviedellostato.it) or with the SITA bus company (www.sitabus.it).
If you are arriving at Roma Ciampino or Fiumicino airport (www.adr.it) you should go by bus or train to the main train station in Rome (Roma Termini) and get to Salerno by train; it takes between 1h50mins up to 3 hours, according with the train you take.
The campus is located in Fisciano, around 13 Kilometres from the centre of Salerno, and may be reached by bus. You will be able to obtain information on bus routes that will take you to the University of Salerno from the Tourist Information Centre by the railway station. It is necessary to buy a ticket before getting on the bus.
